Stocks see volatility at open

Dhaka stocks opened marginally lower amid volatility on Tuesday morning as the investors followed closely the news regarding the new strain of the coronavirus.

The discovery prompted several countries, including Bangladesh, to cancel international flights and travel restrictions have been imposed in many countries in order to limit the spread of the new Covid variant.

The benchmark DSEX lost almost 10 points at open before quickly recovering more than half of the losses. It edged down 4 points or 0.08 percent at 5,11, while the DSES shed 3 points or 0.27 percent at 1,179 and blue-chip DS30 slipped 3 points or 0.18 percent at 1,814.

In the opening session, Beximco Ltd remained the top turnover, followed by Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Bangladesh National Insurance Company Limited, Orion Pharmaceuticals, National Feed Mills Ltd, and Fortune Shoes.
