US-Bangla Airlines on Friday will launch its Dhaka-Male flight, which will be the first of its kind from Bangladesh since Best Way Air’s 2009 flight. Best Way is out of service for a decade now.
Initially, US-Bangla will run three flights per week between Dhaka and Male, the capital of the Maldives, another South Asian country. The flight will leave Dhaka on Friday, Sunday and Tuesday, said Md. Kamrul Islam, general manager, public relations of US-Bangla Airlines.
He said a traveller will cost Tk 45,545 for a return ticket.
The inaugural function will be held at the Domestic Terminal of Hazrat ShahJalal International Airport on Friday morning. Mahbub Ali, state minister of civil aviation and tourism, will attend the programme as chief guest.
Presently, US-Bangla has international flights to Chennai, Kolkata, Guangzhou, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu, Doha, Singapore, Bangkok (suspended for Covid-19) and Dubai.
Maldives will be added in the list from November 19, 2021 and Colombo in Sri Lanka from January 2022.
“Two new Boeing aircrafts will be added to our fleet at the end of this month,” Islam told the Business Insider Bangladesh on Thursday.
