Sharif Anwar Hossain elected shareholder director of DSE

Sharif Anwar Hossain, managing director of Shahidullah Securities, has been elected for the post of shareholder director of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country’s main stock exchange.
The voting took place on Sunday at the DSE building in the capital’s Nikunja from 10am to 3pm. He defeated Ahmed Rashid Lali, managing director of Rashid Investment Services.
In this election Sharif Anwar Hossain got 27 crore 60 lakh 60 thousand 32 votes and Ahmed Rashid got 21 crore 66 lakh 32 thousand 134 votes. Out of 259 voters of DSE, 174 cast their votes. The number of votes is determined in proportion to their shares.
Sharif Anwar Hossain will replace Rakibur Rahman, current shareholder director of DSE who is nearing the end of his three-year term.
