Bangladesh’s GDP grows 6.94% in FY21: Official data

The gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of Bangladesh reached to 6.94 percent in 2020-2021 Fiscal Year, as per the final official data of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.
Besides, the per capita income of the country also increased to $2,591.
The information was revealed at the executive committee of the national economic council (ECNEC) meeting on Tuesday.However, the provisional growth estimation was 5.43% for the fiscal year, whereas it rose by 1.51 percentages.
“Our GDP reached approximately 7 percent, while many other states suffered the blow,” Planning Minister MA Mannan told reporters after the meeting.
“According to the primary prediction, the GDP size was $411 billion. Later, it rose to $416 billion,” he added.
According to the BBS final report on August 5 in 2021, the GDP growth was 3.51 percent in 2019-20 FY for the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The government also estimated to achieve a 5.2 percent growth.
The per capita income of the country has increased to $2,591, while it was $2,554 by the earlier estimation.
