IMED for promoting local businesses

The Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) has recommended the development and promotion of local businesses, said Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

He said, “We always encourage local businesses. The IMED has suggested the development of the local businesses in its recommendation.”

He was addressing a press briefing after a cabinet meeting on public purchase on Wednesday

The minister continued, “We inspire foreign companies to work in association with our local business houses as their venture partners. The IMED proposal is excellent and aims to fine-tune the procurement processes, monitoring the activities and recheck if we received the goods or projects rightly.”

Kamal said, “We need to consider sectors where we can work using our local resources instead of hiring foreigners. A committee was formed in this regard to find out the sectors. We will finalise the matter in the next meeting.”
