Now medicines to get costlier

When the consumers are struggling to manage their livelihoods amid the rising prices of food commodities, the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) has decided to increase the prices of 53 drugs, many of which are essential for primary healthcare.
A committee of the DGDA made the price hike decision at a meeting held at the health ministry. Last time, drug prices were revised in 2015.
According to the new price, Paracetamol will cost Tk 1.20, up from the previous Tk 0.70.
Ayub Hossain, the spokesman of the DGDA, confirmed the matter to Business Insider Bangladesh on Saturday.
He said the prices of some of these 53 drugs will go as high as 100 percent.
