US firm to set up overhead compressor at Titas Gas Field

The government is going to award a US company for installing an overhead compressor at the Titas Gas Field in Brahmanbaria to optimise gas pressure for the users in Dhaka, an official of the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said.
The cost of setting up the compressor will be Tk 23.75 crore, 5.79 percent higher than the quoted prices cited in the tender documents. A consortium of Zicom Equipment Pte Singapore and AG Equipment USA is going to be awarded the job.
The proposal will be placed before the cabinet committee on public purchase on Wednesday. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will preside over the meeting.
A Chinese company, China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Company, had proposed 71.85 percent higher than quoted cost, the official said.
The Titas Gas Field is setting up the overhead compressor under the Speedy Supply of Power and Energy (Special Provision) (Amendment) Act 2010 (revised in 2021).
Petrobangla and BGFCL are the main enterprises to look into the work. The work is supposed to be completed by June 2025.
