The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), stock market regulator, has sought an explanation from Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) about the resignation of its managing director Tarique Amin Bhuiyan.
BSEC sources said that DSE has been asked to explain the matter by Thursday.
Besides, Chairman of BSEC, Prof Shibli Rubaiyat Ul Islam has called DSE chairman Md. Eunusur Rahman to discuss this matter.
Tarique Amin Bhuiyan submitted his resignation letter to the Chairman of Dhaka Stock Exchange on Tuesday. The resignation letter said that his resignation will take effect at the end of October.
Tarique Amin Bhuiyan created controversy by promoting 127 people recently. At the DSE board meeting held on Monday, Bhuiyan had to come under fire.
Even at one stage of the board meeting it was decided not to keep him in the meeting.
As a result, that part of the board meeting was held in the absence of him. In such a situation, he submitted his resignation within a day.
Earlier, regulatory body Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) approved his appointment on July 6, 2021.
