Incentives worth Tk372 crore distributed among 57 lakh farmers

The Ministry of Agriculture has distributed incentives worth Tk372 crore among about 57 lakh farmers in the current 2020-21 fiscal year.
The total area of land covered by the incentive programme is 23.64 lakh bighas.
This incentive has been given to help the farmers cope with the pandemic, to compensate for the damage caused by floods, and to increase production.
The incentives include various agricultural inputs including seeds, seedlings, fertilizer and ancillary assistance, reads a press release.
This incentive is being distributed from the regular budgetary allocation of the Ministry of Agriculture for the agricultural rehabilitation assistance.
Out of Tk 372 crore, incentives of Tk112 crore have been given to compensate for the damage caused by Corona and floods.
Incentives of Tk90 crore have been given to increase the production of masakalai, mug, sunflower, mustard, maize etc. in the Robi season.
Besides, incentives of Tk136 crore have been distributed for free seed support to increase the planting and production of boro paddy, Tk25 crore for the increase in onion production and Tk9 crore for simultaneous hybrid boro paddy cultivation in 61 districts.
