State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Monday said there is no hope of improving the load shedding situation before the month of November amid a gas shortage.
‘The problem may seem temporary. But I think it is not because the world’s energy situation is not improving,” he said while talking to the media.
“This month (October) will be a little difficult. Hopefully, it will be a little better from next month.”
Nasrul also said the government has to prioritise supplying gas to the industry to save the economy. He urged everyone to be patient under the circumstances.
When asked whether the situation will be normal from November, Nasrul said, “I hope so.” I wanted the situation to be better from October. But I don’t see any hope now because the demand in the industry has increased prompting us to reduce gas supply to electricity plants. So, the load shedding situation worsened, he said.
According to Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), the highest demand on Sunday was 12,000MW, and the generation was 9,703MW. There was a 2,297MW shortage against the demand.
