BSCIC chemical industrial park’s land development work okayed

The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement has approved the proposal of land development work of the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) chemical industrial park.
The approval came at a virtual meeting chaired by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Wednesday.
The Dockyard and Engineering Workshop Ltd under the Bangladesh Navy has been entrusted with the 123.63 crore project to develop 310 acres of land at Munshiganj, Additional Secretary Dr. Shahida Akter told reporters after the meeting.
The BSCIC chemical industrial park is dedicated to relocating chemical factories and warehouses damaged by Old Dhaka's Nimtoli inferno that killed 124 people in 2010.
The committee approved another Tk 75.73 crore project on power distribution network expansion proposed by the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board under Power Division. M/S. Poly Cable Industries Limited was picked up to supply cables for the project.
On the day, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved three projects, including decreasing the tender deadline for importing 5.50 lakh metric tonnes of rice to 10 days instead of existing 42 days from the date of publication, signing of a development agreement between BEZA and BEPZA to establish a 'BEPZA Economic Zone' at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Industrial City in Mirsarai, Chittagong and the 'Equip, Operate and Maintenance of Patenga Container Project' in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system to recruit international standard private operators after the construction of the Patenga Container Terminal.
