Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal inaugurated ‘House Building Loan Management Module’ on Tuesday in a bid to support public employees to have their own houses.
The finance minister inaugurated the programme in his office at Bangladesh Secretariat.
Referring to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Kamal said as per PM’s directives, the ‘Policy for Providing Housing Loans to Government Employees through Banking System’ was formulated on 30th July 2018 to ensure housing for public employees.
Currently, the housing loan programme is running to support credit for the government employees, such as teachers, employees of public universities and University Grants Commission and Chief Justice and Supreme Court Judges.
The minister also said that the current system for housing loans shows that most of the time it takes much longer to complete an application process. The applicant has no clue about the status of his or her application.
He said digitalisation of the loan application process will eliminate such problems. If the loan application process is digitised, the applicant will be able to apply directly online to the finance division and the bank and the ministry will be able to issue an interest subsidy approval order from the finance department within a very short period of time.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rouf Talukder, Secretary to Financial Institutions Division, Sheikh Mohammad Salim Ullah, Comptroller General of Accounts Md. Nurul Islam also spoke at the event. The programme was attended by Finance Division Senior Secretary Fatima Yasmin and Agrani Bank Managing Director Murshedul Kabir.
