Adequate stock of 6 essential items for Ramadan: Cabinet secretary

The country has enough stock of Ramadan essential commodities including sugar, chickpeas, and ginger.

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam made the remark on Tuesday at a press conference in the cabinet conference room of the secretariat.

“There is enough stock of six essential items for Ramadan and the commerce ministry has assured the cabinet in this regard,” the minister said.

“Besides, all the products that TCB is importing will arrive in the country long before Ramadan,” he added.

While asked by reporters whether the prices of these products would go up, Anwarul said, “The issue of price increase depends a lot on the market. The price will be under control when there is sufficient supply.”

The fasting month of Ramadan will begin in mid-April this year.
