International level Quality Award System launched in Bangladesh

The international level Quality Award System was launched in Bangladesh for the first-time to provide special benefits to Bangladeshi companies in the international competitive market.

The award launch was held on Sunday evening at Panpacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital. Interested organizations can now apply for this award.

World famous Quality guru Professor Emeritus Dr. Noriaki was the Guest of Honour while Prof Dr MR Kabir, President of the BSTQM presided over the launching ceremony.

A National Steering Committee (NSC) was also formed to promote, administer, establish the Kano-BSTQM Quality award (KBQA). KBQA will follow the same kind of procedure as Japan’s Deming Award and America’s Malcolm Baldrige Award.

The main attraction of the program was the presentation of Professor Dr Noriaki Kano on “Impact of Quality Award in Organisation Development”.

Dr Noriaki Kano reminded all that we must understand “results” and impact. Results are essential for any business but TQM seeks to realize results by achieving impact.

Professor Kano emphasized that industry should practice and promote TQM for business. Receiving the Deming Prize is only a catalyst for the practice and promotion of TQM.

Highlighting the salient features of KBQA, KBQA National Steering Committee Member Engineer AM Khairul Bashar noted that “Kano-BSTQM Quality Award will play an important role in promoting business excellence by meeting quality standards and customer expectations”.
