Agriculture sector gets TK 27,214cr in budget

Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on Thursday proposed Taka 27,214 crore for the agriculture sector for 2024-25 fiscal year which is over Tk 2,091 crore less compared to the actual budget in FY2023-24.
The finance minister in his budget speech revealed this while presenting the proposed national budget for the 2024-25 fiscal at the Jatiya Sangsad with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
The proportion of agriculture budget outlay is only 3.8 percent of the total proposed budget.
The agriculture sector got Tk 25,122 crore in the 2023-24 fiscal but in the revised budget it [budget outlay] has been increased to Tk 33,280 crore by enhancing Tk 8,158 crore.
Under the proposed budget, over Tk 20,790 crore has been allocated as operating expenditure while nearly Tk 6424 crore has been proposed for development expenditure which is 2.4 percent of the allocated budget proposed for the annual development programme (ADP).
