The country's garment accessories and packaging makers on Thursday made a number of demands before the government saying the proposed budget lacks measures to ensure a business-friendly environment.
Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) urged the government to fix source tax at 0.5 per cent for five years and make it a final settlement, reports BSS.
It also demanded the withdrawal of the proposed TK 0.1 million new bond licence fee and revise the renewal fee to TK 10,000 annually, down from existing TK 50,000 and TK 5,000, respectively.
BGAPMEA president Md Shahriar made the demands in a post-budget press conference held in a city hotel today.
BGAPMEA former presidents Rafez Alam Chowdhury and Abdul Kader Khan, among others, were also present.
The BGAPMEA's other demands included the withdrawal of 200 per cent to 400 per cent proposed penalty for HS code-related mistakes.
