Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka is one of the costliest cities for expatriate employees, according to a survey by consultancy firm Mercer.
The annual report ranks 209 cities based on the comparative cost of expenses including housing, transportation, food and entertainment, with New York City used as a baseline comparison.
Dhaka ranked 40th costliest city for expatriate employees, the survey found. Cities like Amsterdam, Dubai, Bangkok, Miami, Chicago, Rome, Boston, Washington, Munich, Brussels, Frankfurt, Oslo, Helsinki and many more European and American cities are cheaper for expatriate employees than Dhaka.
Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan has been named as the world’s most expensive city for foreign workers.
The report ranks 209 cities based on the cost of expenses that include housing, transport and food.
Mercer said it evaluated more than 200 goods and services for the report, which is designed to help companies and governments around the world determine how much they should pay expatriate employees, reports BBC.
