‘Arihazar Economic Zone a great investment destination in Asia’

Dhaka (Oct 21, 2020): Arihazar Economic Zone for Japanese investors could be the best economic area in Asia that can improve business environment in different sectors of Bangladesh including tax, custom’s clearance and foreign remittance.

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Naoki Ito came up with the opinion after taking part in a webinar organized by HSBC Bangladesh in association with JETRO on Bangladesh-Japan Business Corridor: Stakeholders Dialogue and Way Forward, a press release said today.

He also praised the HSBC for creating such platform for closer connectivity between Japanese companies and Bangladesh.

“With, under the leadership of new Prime Minister, Yoshihide Suga, Japan remains committed to continuously supporting Bangladesh’s economic development,” Naoki Ito said.

He said the establishment of Arihazar Economic Zone with 1 billion USD investment project will attract Japanese investment as it has a potential to be the best economic zone in Asia.

It will be overcoming challenges of business environment such as tax, custom’s clearance and foreign remittance as well as giving incentives, he said.

Speaking at the event, Matthew Lobner, head of international and head of strategy and planning - Asia Pacific, HSBC said, HSBC’s extensive global network offers unparalleled access to the high-growth markets like Bangladesh.
