KSRM accused of Tk 231cr tax evasion

The tax administrator has charged KSRM Steel Plant, a concern of Kabir Group of Industries, with Tk 231 crore tax dodge.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the National Board of Revenue, Chattogram, recently raided the company’s office located at Sitakundo upazila of Chattogram.

“And the team found the tax evasion of the company,” said M Akbar Hossain, a commissioner at customs, excise, and VAT commissionerate, Chattogram.

“Legal action will be taken against the company once the company fails to provide the proper documents,” he added.

As part of the NBR’s drive to detect tax evasions in the port city, the KSRM was caught up for avoiding paying tax on its sales in Chattogram.

KSRM Chief Executive Director Mehrul Karim did not respond to the repeated phone calls made by the Business Insider Bangladesh on Saturday.
