Oil barge sinks in Bay amid inclement weather

An oil carrying tanker barge ‘MT Sufala’ sank near Patenga sea beach on Tuesday afternoon.
The barge sinks some 2.2 nautical miles away from Patenga lighthouse.
No one was, however, injured or went missing in the mishap.
Omar Faruk, Secretary to Chattogram Port Authority confirmed Business Insider Bangladesh, the news.
He said all action has been taken to retrieve the barge and that it did not cause any irregularities in the movement of vessels.
The accident might have occurred due to the inclement weather, he said.
According to the weather forecast of the Met office maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal number three.
