Samanta clinches Shera Rondhonshilpi-2019 title

Intiha Samanta, a law graduate and an amateur culinary artist from Dhaka division, has become the winner of the “Meizan Malaysian Palm Olein Shera Rondhonshilpi-2019”.

The grand finale and award ceremony of the culinary reality show was telecast on ATN Bangla on Friday, reads a press release.

Banker Kamrun Nahar, also from Dhaka division, became the runner-up, while Tahsin Islam Toma from Rangpur division won the Professor Siddiqua Kabir trophy for outstanding knowledge in nutrition.

The champion received Tk 300,000 and tickets for two passengers flying to and from Dubai, while the runner-up was awarded with BDT 100,000 and an air ticket to Dubai.

Ahmed, general manager, and Faisal Mahmud, senior manager (marketing), of the Bangladesh Edible Oil Ltd – the marketing organisation of the Meizan Fortified Palm Olein; Tasik Ahmed, advisor (programme) of the ATN Bangla; Akhlakur Rahman, principal of the National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute; Md Rahman Jabed, sales manager of Emirates in Bangladesh; and Dr Farhad Kamal, Group CEO of The Bangladesh Monitor; were present at the award-giving ceremony.

This time 24 participants were selected from all over the country for the reality show. The participants had to demonstrate their culinary skills, nutrition and hygiene knowledge to reach the final through eleven elimination rounds.

Four finalists – Intiha Samantha, Afsana Rifat Sochi, Kamrun Nahar and Tahsin Islam Toma – fought for the crown in the grand finale.

A jury panel comprising expert chefs and celebrity culinary artists picked the right candidate through a rigorous scrutiny.

Shera Rondhonshilpi-2019 was presented jointly by The Bangladesh Monitor and ATN Bangla.

Meizan Fortified Palm Olein was the Title Sponsor while Omera LPG supported the event as a premium sponsor.

The National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute, Sharif Home Appliance, Emirates Airline and Shwapno super store joined the event as partners.

Bangladesh Monitor has been arranging the culinary event since 2005 and this year it was the 15th edition of the competition.
