Veteran actor Aly Zaker passed away on Friday morning at the age of 76.

“My father, Aly Zaker, passed away this morning at 6:40 after a four year long battle with cancer,” his son Iresh Zaker said in Facebook.

Two days ago on Wednesday, he also tested positive with Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment at United Hospital.

Before that, on November 17, he was admitted to the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital for cardiac complications.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held in Banani graveyard mosque after Asr prayer today, according to Iresh Zaker’s Facebook post.

Aly Zaker was born on November 6, 1944. He was the third among four siblings.

He served as a freedom fighter in the Liberation War in Sector 8 with Major General Manzoor.

An extremely well-known on-screen actor of stage and TV and a famous theatre executive, Aly Zaker began his brilliant acting career through the performance in the show titled Kabor by Muneer Chowdhury and arranged by Aranyak Natyadal in the year 1972.

He regularly wrote articles in leading newspapers and hosted distinctive talk shows on various TV channels.

Aside from being a performer, Zaker was the group chairman of Asiatic 3Sixty — an advertising agency in Bangladesh.
