Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has said that the lead role of Chadwick Boseman in the superhero movie sequel to “Black Panther” will not be recast following the actor’s death.
Feige said this in a Disney presentation for investors on Thursday.
Boseman’s performance as the proud Black leader of the fictional land of Wakanda was iconic, and he will not be replaced, he said, according to a Reuters report.
Chadwick Boseman died of colon cancer at the age of 43 in August this year. He fought the battle against cancer for four years and kept the whole thing private.
Feige also said that the sequel would honour Boseman’s legacy by continuing to “explore the world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film.”
