Prominent actress Sharmili Ahmed passes away

Sharmili Ahmed, one of the most legendary actresses in the country’s film and drama industries, passed away on Friday morning. She was 75.

She breathed her last at Uttara residence early hours on Friday, her younger sister Joly Ahmed confirmed it to the media.

The prominent actress had been suffering from cancer since long, family sources said.

Born on May 8, 1947, she started acting on the stage at the age of four. She began her career on radio in 1962, on film in 1964 and on television in 1968.

She acted in at least 400 dramas and 150 cinemas in her career.

Sharmili Ahmed will be laid to rest at Banani Graveyard.
