While observing the 90th anniversary of revolutionary Pritilata Waddedar’s self-immolation, the first teaser of the film ‘Birkonna Pritilata’ was released on Saturday.

Pritilata Waddedar gave birth to an immortal story of self-sacrifice for this motherland (erstwhile undivided India). Her stories of heroism inspired thousands of comrades in the struggle for independence from the British rulers.

So people of all classes in this subcontinent reverently bestow an indomitable love for her.

On September 23, 1932, Pritilata attacked the European Club, a British pleasure center in Chittagong, on the orders of Masterda Surya Sen. On her way back after the attack, she was shot and committed suicide by consuming potassium cyanide.

In the 90 years of self-sacrifice of this great revolutionary, the unforgettable and unknown story of Pritilata’s life is coming to the silver screen.

Filmmaker Pradip Ghosh has directed the movie ‘Birkonna Pritilata’ based on the novel ‘Bhalobasa Pritilata’ by fiction writer Selina Hossain. It is made with the government grant.

In this film, Nusrat Imroz Tisha played the role of Pritilata while Manoj Pramanik played the role of revolutionary Ramakrishna Biswas. With them Kamruzzaman Tapu has acted as Masterda Surya Sen.

Director Pradeep Ghosh is a part-time teacher of Chittagong University and a cultural activist. In the fiscal year 2019-20, he received a government grant for this film.

The director wants to call this film with historical background a real place movie, because the film has been shot in historical buildings.

Director Pradeep Ghosh said the film will be released on the silver screen across Bangladesh in the middle of November.
