Stocks extend gaining streak

Country's both the bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – on Sunday witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 24.95 points or 0.43 per cent to settle at 5,829.37, reports BSS.
Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 4.13 points to finish at 2,128.84 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 4.29 points to close at 1,245.55.
Out of 390 issues traded, 255 advanced, 100 declined and 35 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Daily trade turnover decreased to Tk 9,336.32 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 9,632.63 million at the previous session of the week.
BATBC dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by MJLBD, OLYMPIC, GP and SPCL.
CRYSTALINS was the day's top gainer, rising 9.94 per cent, while KPCL was the worst loser, shedding 10 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 103.68 points to settle at 16,623.91 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 61.64 points to close at 10,016.22.
Of the issues traded, 65 declined, 140 advanced and 16 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 36 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 8.44 crore.
