Investors who bought shares of Orion Infusion Limited in the last three months have become the luckiest ones as the company’s stock price rose by an abnormal 863 percent during the period.
Market insiders said it paid more than what an Aladdin’s lamp could have given to investors.
On July 13, the share price was Tk 95.5. From there, the price of the share increased by Tk 824.10 in three months and stood at Tk 919.60 on October 12.
However, the company said that there is no reason for this unusual price increase.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) recently sent a notice to the company seeking to know the reason for the abnormal increase in the share price.
In response to DSE’s letter, the company informed that the share price of the company is increasing without any undisclosed price sensitive information.
Despite such an unusual price increase, investors’ interest in the stock has not abated; Rather, it has increased.
On Wednesday 2,34,716 shares of the company changed hands. The transaction amount in money stood at Tk 21.62 crore.
In this regard, capital market analyst Professor Dr Mohammad Helal said, this price increase is not normal at all and there must be some manipulation behind it.
He warned that if the company’s shares are bought in this situation, there is a high risk that investors may find themselves in a big loss soon.
