Deshbandhu Group will sell rice, lentil, sugar, edible oil and soft drinks at subsidized prices among the low-income people alongside the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) from Friday in order to keep the prices of essentials at a tolerable level.
This industrial group will start selling these commodities at 25 percent less than the maximum retail price (MRP) in different parts of the capital, reports BSS.
Director General of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) AHM Shafiquzzaman will inaugurate this programme at Karwanbazar in the capital tomorrow.
"The Deshbandhu Group has decided to sell commodities at subsidized prices following our request to keep the prices of essentials items at a tolerable level," he said.
He said, "We've also called upon other industrial groups to stand beside the common people by selling essential commodities at subsidized prices."
The Director General of DNCRP also expressed his hope that many more industrial groups like Deshbandhu will come forward to sell essential items at subsidized rates.
It is mentionable that the Deshbandhu Group will sell these essential items in the capital's Motijheel, Bangladesh Secretariat area, Kawranbazar, Press Club, Kalmitola Market, Bijay Sarani area, Zero Point and New Market area of the capital through truck sale.
