HC wants high-level committee to prevent rise in essential agro product price

The High Court (HC) on Sunday ordered authorities concerned to form a high-level committee to prevent the rise in the price of essential agro products like potatoes, onion, garlic and egg.
A High Court division bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Atabullah passed the order today, asking the Commerce Secretary and Agriculture Secretary to form this committee and submit a report within the next one month.
The court also issued a rule, asking authorities concerned to explain as to why the court shall not declare its failure in preventing the price hike, illegal and why it shall not pass the order to run market management at the place of production of agricultural products.
Advocate Monoj Kumar Bhoumik moved the case before the court, while Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy stood for the state.
