Stocks rebound on both bourses

After witnessing a downward trend in the last session, stocks on Wednesday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.

After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 70.93 points or 1.25 percent to settle at 5,756.71, reports BSS.

Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 30.46 points to finish at 2,117.92 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 17.27 points to close at 1,234.37.

Out of 398 issues traded, 271 advanced, 79 declined and 48 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Daily trade turnover increased to Taka 8986.48 million on the country's premier bourse, which was Tk 7502.40 million at the previous session of the week.

BRACBANK dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by MJLBD, OLYMPIC, GP and TRUSTBANK.

KBPPWBIL was the day's top gainer, rising 9.98 percent, while MARICO was the worst loser, shedding 3 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 133.71 points to settle at 16,402.52 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 83 points to close at 9,883.08.

Of the issues traded, 81 declined, 117 advanced and 22 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city's bourse traded 32.68 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 8.22 crore.
