Rezaul Karim elected as CCC mayor

Chattogram (Jan 28, 2021): Awami League-back candidate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury has become the new mayor of Chattogram City Corporation.

Rezaul bagged 369,284 votes while his closest contestant BNP-nominated mayoral candidate got 52,429 votes in the election ended 4:00pm on Wednesday.

Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, returning officer of the CCC polls announced the unofficial result on completion of the vote counting around 2:00am, reports our Chittagong correspondent.

The results of 733 polling centres out of total 735 were declared from the temporary control room set up by the Election Commission at MA Aziz Stadium in the port city.

However, the Election Commission suspended polling of two centres.
