Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Thursday blamed BNP men for carrying out violent activities during the Chattogram City Corporation elections.
“BNP men went on acts of valance at different places and vandalised Electronic Voting Machines during the polls,” Mahmud brought the allegation while talking to the newly elected leaders of Bangladesh Photo Journalists’ Association at his secretariat office in Dhaka this noon.
The Chattogram city polls was held yesterday amid stray incidents of violence that left two persons dead and a number of people injured.
Responding to a query in this regard, the minister said, “It was an outcome of feud between two brothers. A breather killed his breather,” he added.
About BNP’s participation in the election, he said the party did not take part in the election as it was supposed to do so.
He also termed BNP’s allegations of driving out their agents from polling stations as traditional and said their agents did not go to their respective polling stations. “Who will drive them out of the vote centres?” he raised the question.
