Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport resumed flight operations on Thursday after six days of closure due to the deteriorating floods in the area.
Two flights — one on the Sylhet-London route and another on the Sylhet-Manchester route — took off in the early hours of the day, Hafiz Ahmed, director of the airport, told reports on Thursday.
The flight operations at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet were suspended on June 17 due to the deteriorating flood situation.
The authorities made the decision as the heavy flood left lakhs of people marooned in the Sylhet Division.
Apart from, roads, houses, educational institutions, government, semi-government and nongovernment offices and crop and farmland inundated in Gowainghat, Kanaighat, Companiganj, Jaintiapur, Sylhet sadar upazila areas and many parts of the Sylhet metropolitan city went under water due to the flash flood.
