BSTI fines 209 companies Tk 1.60cr in May

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) fined 209 companies Tk 1.60 crore in May.
The action was taken through mobile courts and surveillance teams across the country, a press release said on Saturday.
In May, 75 mobile courts were run with the help of RAB and police led by executive magistrates of BSTI.
In these raids, 130 companies were fined Tk 1.41 crore on charges of using the trademark without BSTI approval.
In addition, 79 companies were fined Tk 19.53 lakh on charges of fraudulence in weight and measure.
At the same time, 161 surveillance operations were conducted and regular cases were filed in the Judicial Magistrate's Court against 34 illegal organisations.
