Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud on Sunday said all the achievements of Bangladesh were attained under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her party.

“Everyone is praising the development in the country, but BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is saying the opposite. His speech about the country’s 50 years of achievements seems to be his delirium due to his age,” he said.

The information minister said this while handing over documents among the beneficiaries of Prime Minister’s housing scheme for the homeless families under Asrayan project at Betagi Bahalpur in Rangunia upazila of Chattogram Sunday noon, reports BSS.

Hasan requested the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), an organisation of BNP supported doctors, to check the mental health of Mirza Fakhrul.

“We have recently lent $200 billion to Sri Lanka. President of the United States, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the German President and Nobel Prize winner Amartya Sen praised the achievements of Bangladesh, but the BNP and its allies cannot praise it,” he added.

He said that the number of poor people in the country has come down to 20 per cent from 41 per cent.

“Bangladesh become food surplus country from food scarcity one and graduated to middle-income country from least developed country,” he added.

Hasan said that the newspapers of the world are writing that Bangladesh, once a borrower, now lends to other countries.

“The BNP and its allies do not see this development. They continue falsifying,” he added.

The minister said that their main issue of BNP’s politics is the health of Khaleda Zia and the punishment of Tareq Rahman.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the process of providing semi-pucca houses with two decimals land in the second phase connecting online to Rangunia from Ganabhaban.

Rangunia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Masudur Rahman and beneficiary Jahanara Begum also spoke on the occasion responding to the Prime Minister.
