ICAB president meets commerce minister

A delegation of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) led by its President Mahmudul Hasan Khusru met with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Wednesday.

The ICAB president highlighted the needs of the institute, including allotment of RAJUK land for its academic campus and a hostel for CA students, budget for ICAB project on capacity building, automation process and other related issues for the development and flourishment of the Chartered Accountancy profession.

The minister stressed on the need of increasing the number of Chartered Accountants from current 2,200 to 12,000.

He envisaged the upskilling of the profession to be in consistency with international standards. The minister expressed his happiness to know the international acceptance of Bangladeshi CA certificate.

The other members of the delegation were ICAB Vice Presidents Md Abdul Kader Joaddar and Maria Howlader, Council Member Md Moniruzzaman, and CEO Shubhashish Bose.

Mohammad Mashooqur Rahman Sikder, personal secretary to the commerce minister and Md Aminul Islam, deputy secretary of the ministry, were also present at the meeting.
