Sitakunda container depot fire doused after nearly 4 days

Nearly after 87 hours, the devastating fire that broke out at the BM Container Depot at Sitakunda was doused.
Lt Col Ariful Islam, commander of 18 brigade of 24 infantry division of the Bangladesh Army, confirmed the matter to the reporters on Wednesday noon.
He said, “The fire at the container depot has been doused. However, there are smokes around.”
The death toll from the massive fire at Chattogram BM Container Depot rose to 44 until Wednesday. Among the deceased, nine of them are firefighters.
The fire broke out on Saturday at around 9.45pm at the inland container depot. Around 29 firefighting units rushed to the spot to tame the flames. Later, a team of Bangladesh army reached the spot to assist in fire fighting.
