The Indian government has removed Sameer Wankhede, an officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), from the cruise drugs case in which superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan and five others were arrested.

Now India has transferred the case to Delhi-based Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter against the junior Khan who has been accused by Sameer and his team.

NCB deputy director general (north-west region) Mutha Ashok Jain told PTI on Friday that the action has been taken on “administrative grounds”.

Sanjay Kumar Singh, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1996 batch Odisha cadre, will now lead the probe team against the high profile drug case.

Wankhede, who is facing several personal and service-related allegations, will continue to be the Mumbai zone director of the agency, Times of India reported on Saturday.

Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was detained from a cruise ship which was on its way from Mumbai to Goa on October 2. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) charged him under a number of cases that are connected to illicit substance possession, usage and selling.

After the arrest, the junior Khan was under the custody of NCB and a day after he was sent to the jail. He was in jail for 26 days before he got bail recently.
