Nepal central bank chief suspended over allegations of leaking sensitive information

Mahaprasad Adhikari, the governor of Nepal’s central bank was suspended from the post on Friday.
His suspension automatically came into effect after the government had formed a probe committee to investigate two charges against him.
Mahaprasad Adhikari, the governor of Nepal Rastra Bank has been charged with leaking sensitive information about the government’s decisions and not fulfilling his responsibilities effectively.
The three-member probe committee has been given a month to submit its report, reports the Kathmandu Post.
Deputy governor Nilam Dhungana Timilsina has been given the responsibility of acting governor after Adhikari’s suspension.
This is the second time a sitting governor has been suspended.
Earlier, during a cabinet meeting, some ministers had questioned the working style of Adhikari and accused him of leaking sensitive information to the media.
