Boxing Day Test: Siraj, Gill to debut

India has announced its team for the Boxing Day Test with two debutants.

Mohammed Siraj and Shubman Gill will debut for India in the Test to begin on Saturday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja came back into the side along with wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant.

Gill replaced Prithvi Shaw who failed to score at the top of the order while Siraj got the surprise chance for the injured Mohammed Shami.

Ajinkya Rahane will captain India as Virat Kohli left Australia to see the birth of his first child.

The Indian team comprises Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Ajinkya Rahane (captain), Rishabh Pant (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj.
