Bangladesh defeats Nepal 2-0

Bangladesh on Friday eased to a 2-0 victory over Nepal in the first of the two FIFA friendly matches at the Bangabandhu National Stadium as international football returned to the country after about 10 months.

Nabib Newaj Jibon's strike on 10 minutes with an assist from Saad Uddin heightened the atmosphere at stadium.

Substitute forward Mahbubur Rahman Sufil's strike at the 80th-minute earned Jamie Day's team a morale-boosting victory ahead of next month's World Cup qualifier against Qatar.

This is the first victory for the Bangladeshi team, now ranked 187th in FIFA, over the 170th-ranked Nepal since 2015.

The last international match in Bangladesh was the final of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup on January 25 this year while the last domestic top-flight match took place in the middle of March.
