Gemcon Khulna wins Bangabandhu T20 Cup

Gemcon Khulna has won the title of Bangabandhu T20 Cup with a staggering 70 runs innings from Mahmudullah Riyad, who has also been declared the player of the final. 

Winning the toss, the opponent Gazi Group Chattogram elected to field first and Gemcon Khulna scored 155 runs in 20 overs by losing seven wickets.

Chasing the massive target, Chattogram managed to get to 150 playing twenty overs, giving Khulna a five-run win in the final match. 

It was Shykat Ali who kept the dreams of Chattogram winning the match alive until the final over with his first T20 fifty. He brought down the chase within Chattogram’s reach by hitting four sixes. But he didn’t quite get strong support from the other side. 

The only decent partnership Chattogram team was able to make was the 45 run partnership between Shykat and Shamsur Rahman for the fourth wicket.

Tournament awards

As the final came to an end, the tournament awards were declared. 

Mustafizur Rahman has been selected as both the player of the tournament and best bowler while Liton Das has been selected as the best batsman. 

Special performance awards were given to Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Parvez Hossain Emon, Shoriful Islam and Robiul Islam Robi.
