Bashundhara Kings and Uttar Baridhara were banned from the next edition of the Federation Cup and fined Tk 5 lakh each. On Tuesday, Muktijoddha Sangsad KC received the same punishment.
The fine will have to be paid in the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) fund by January 28.
According to a BFF press release, the decision was taken unanimously in accordance with Article 31 of the BFF Disciplinary Code and Article 19.3 of this year's Bashundhara Group Federation Cup.
Earlier, the club was given a show cause notice. The club replied on time.
Club manager Ariful Islam said, ‘We wrote in reply, “We will not play, we didn’t say that. We said we wanted to play on the grass.” But the BFF punished us without any further discussion.’
The manager of the club also said that they will appeal against it.
Muktijoddha Sangsad KC didn’t agree to play the matches of the Federation Cup on a risky turf like Bashundhara and Baridhara. They officially informed the matter by letter to BFF.
They didn’t appear on the ground on the 26th December. As per the rules, the opponent Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi got a walkover and won 3-0.
