Nice beat Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in a tense penalty shootout (6-5) to reach the quarterfinals of the French Cup following a 0-0 away draw on Monday.

Nice have advanced to the quarter-finals where they will take on Marseille next week. PSG will not compete in the Coupe de France final for the first time since 2014.

Leandro Paredes and Xavi Simons were denied by the Nice keeper Marcin Bulka. Bulka produced a fine save as he got down low to his right to push Paredes' strike away from goal. Later, he guessed the right way, diving to his left to push Simons' shot away from target.

Lionel Messi started up front after recovering from the coronavirus, yet he made little impact in a frustrating first half for Pochettino's side. In this match, he wore the number 10 jersey for the first time for PSG.

Left-winger Justin Kluivert had a shot saved for Nice soon after the break and PSG midfielder Marco Verratti curled a shot over from a decent position midway through the second period.

Kylian Mbappe and Nice's Amine Gouiri were in fine form up front but neither had opportunities to score.
