After humiliating Real Madrid by 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu, Barcelona defender Gerard Pique wasted no time in logging on to Twitter to signal the club's rebirth following Sunday's victory.
Pique beamed in a short message sent out on the social media network. He wrote, “We are back.”
The much-anticipated Clasico proved a one-sided affair. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres were on the scoresheet to register this incredible win. Aubameyang was the architect of Los Blancos' downfall as he notched two goals and provided an assist in the contest.
The Catalans are still far off their arch-rivals in the Liga standings, but the performance was another signal of how far they have come since club idol Xavi returned as their new coach.
Madrid lost the match but they are still on the top of the table with 66 points from 29 games, while their eternal rivals are in the third position with 54 points in the same number of matches.
