Opener Anamul Haque Bijoy became the first batter to reach 1,000 runs in a single season of List A cricket league on Tuesday.
The wicketkeeper-batter reached the milestone in the 14th match and to make the matter more memorable, he hit a century for his side Prime Bank Cricket Club's comfortable 10-wicket victory over Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club.
On April 24, Bijoy set the world record in the match against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club. His 52-run knock broke Tom Woody’s 917 in 15 innings for Worcestershire in England's Sunday League. Bijoy took 13 innings to surpass the Australian. In the next match, he hit a ton which helped him to cross 1,000 (1042) runs in 14 innings.
His performance will help him to get the opportunity to play for the national team again. He played his first match in 2012 and the last in 2019 against Sri Lanka.
