Italian professional football club Napoli, with which Madarona spent seven years of his career, has decided to rename their stadium “Stadio Diego Armando Maradona” after the tragic death of the football legend.
The 60-year-old Maradona was at home recovering from brain surgery when he died after suffering a cardiac arrest on Wednesday.
After his death, tributes started to come from his fans, current and former players, politicians for the 1968 World Cup winner.
But perhaps the most touching tribute came from his former club Napoli as they decided to officially rename their stadium after him.
Quoting the Club’s President Aurelio de Laurentiis, Sport Bible reported about the consideration, which already got support from the mayor of Italian city Naples Luigi de Magistris.
"Diego Armando Maradona is dead, the most immense footballer of all time," Luigi said.

"Diego made our people dream, he redeemed Naples with his genius. In 2017, he became an honorary citizen. Diego, Neapolitan and Argentine, you gave us joy and happiness. Naples loves you,” he added.
"Let's name the San Paolo Stadium after Diego Armando Maradona!" the mayor further said.
While Maradona is best known for his superb performance for what’s considered as the golden era for Argentine football, he is also worshipped in the streets of Naples.
He scored 115 goals alone while playing for Napoli between 1984-1991. He even became the top scorer for the 1987-88 session of Italian football.
