To make it possible for the students to access online education conveniently, Grameenphone has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU).
The agreement will allow the university to use bulk data services from Grameenphone to conduct their online classes.
Since the start of the pandemic, Grameenphone has been trying to provide numerous connectivity solutions to various companies and customers across the nation to connect them to what matters the most, a press release from the telecom operator reads.
The organisation has already offered student packs to multiple universities to continue their online education without any disruption.
"The Covid-19 Pandemic has interrupted our lives with many challenges and yet we have to overcome all the challenges and move forward. There is no alternative to joint initiatives and endeavours to navigate through this dire time effectively,” MBSTU Vice-chancellor of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University Professor Dr Md Alauddin said on the occasion of signing this contract.
“In the current unprecedented situation, continuing the online educational activities is very much important considering the future of our next generation. Therefore, we are delighted to sign the MOU with Grameenphone so that our students can continue their online education seamlessly," he added.
Head of Emerging Accounts of the Business Division of Grameenphone Shaon Azad said that the continuation of the pandemic threatens the infrastructure of the education system.
“Education is a nation’s backbone as it plays a critical role in technological development and teaches various skills, values, and awareness. A negative effect on the education sector will have a disastrous impact on the economy,” he said, adding that it is Grameenphone’s utmost responsibility to help the educational institutions to conduct online classes conveniently during a crisis as a digital partner of Bangladesh.
“We have always tried to provide simplified solutions to everyone, and thus, we are pleased to sign the agreement with Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University to provide data for the students,” he further said.
Among others, top officials from Grameenphone and MBSTU were present during the signing ceremony.
