Digital World 2020: Commerce ministry bags best public org award

Commerce ministry has received the best public organisation award for its contribution to the country’s e-commerce.

Commerce Secretary Dr Md Jafar Uddin received the award at the closing ceremony of the 7th Digital World 2020 expo, held at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Film Archive in the capital on Friday, reads a press release.

Salman F Rahman, private industry and investment adviser to the prime minister, was present at the closing event as the chief guest, with State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak in the chair.

Chairman of Standing Committee for the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology AKM Rahmatullah, ICT Division Senior Secretary NM Zeaul Alam, Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) Executive Director Parthapratim Deb, and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) President Syed Almas Kabir, among others, were also present.

With the theme "Socially Distanced, Digitally Connected", the three-day expo began on December 9.

President Abdul Hamid inaugurated the expo, which was jointly organised by ICT Division of the government, the BCC and the BASIS.

Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, the event was held both on a virtual platform and in the physical location this year.
