Bangladesh has launched the e-port management software at Burimari land port—the country’s second-highest revenue earning port.
This is the first such software introduced at the land port in Lalmonrihat’s Patgram upazila, aiming to provide fast and hassle-free service to the exporters, importers and freight forwarders.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury virtually inaugurated the e-port management software on Sunday, according to a statement.
The e-port management system will make the Burimari land port more dynamic, bring transparency, reduce harassment and increase the quality of service, he said hoping that the introduction of digital service will boost trade and commerce between the two neighbouring nations.
Recipients and service providers will be able to connect to the service in four ways: web application, mobile apps, digital ID card, and online payment.
The digital system is expected to serve about 65,000-70,000 people a year. At present, about 500 trucks carrying goods from Nepal, Bhutan, and India come to the port and 1,500 trucks leave it to deliver the goods across the country.
